C/2025 K1 (Atlas)In June 2025 a new comet arrived. Imaged here on 20 August 2025 around 21:35UTC the comet still was rather small and faint (12 magnitude). Adjacent image was taken using the SkyWatcher Esprit 150ED between 21:20UTC and 21:43UTC using a ZWO ASI1600MM Pro Cool and ZWO LRGB filters.
Stacked in APP, post-processing in PSP. Click here for the full image. Its distance to Earth this evening was about 0.6AU (93 million kilometres). Further below a second version of this same dataset is shown, now with star-trails. Adjacent image shows the comet when processed in a normal way. Small comets like this stand out better against the background when processed this way. If you have any questions and/or remarks please let me know. |
